wake up call
Hey, everyone. Today I just want to share with you all something that really was a wake up call for David and me. Last night we awoke to fire trucks and lots of other emergency vehicles at our neighbors just across the street. Their house had caught fire. By the time we were aware of what was going on, the fire was out, but the damage had definitely been done. The family is fine, but their house is not. The firemen think it was an electrical fire that started around 1:00 in the morning.
The scary thing is that it could happen to anyone. And we realized that we really don't have a plan for fire. We also hadn't checked our smoke alarms since we moved in, a year and a half ago. And we've also learned about some other great products that can also help. One I wanted to share with you, especially those of you who have kids. They are decals you can put inside and outside your house to help the firemen know where your kids are. Here are just a few examples I found just by searching the Internet. They aren't expensive at all.
The First Alert website is also really informative and helpful. I just wanted to let you all know what we were thinking about and maybe remind you of some things. Even if you don't have kids, you still need a plan. And if you have any other tips, please share them. I'm so glad our neighbors are OK, but we're definitely going to use this experience to make sure we are prepared now.

Glad everyone was ok. We need to get something like that. Good luck with your sewing class.
